Berry’s Divine Designs

Where the love of God is portrayed through art.

Storytelling in Acrylic

My concern is the condition of the human soul. My unpremeditated process creates layered markings that ultimately portray God’s grace, peace, hope and love in my storytelling art. My acrylic paintings are usually stories from the Bible or an individual thought or verse. I use the acrylic paintings to express God’s love for a lost world and to provide a road map to salvation. The use of vibrant acrylic colors evoke emotions of joy and the overwhelming sense that every situation will work out for the good. Explore my paintings and you just may see other objects that will tell you a different story. Each partial abstract painting has a everyday application and its own Bible verse. You may find a painting that is relevant to your current life. Open your mind to the beautiful messages portrayed by my colorful wall art. These partial abstract paintings are suitable for home, office, and church.

Acrylic Paint

Acrylic painting involves using acrylic paint, which is a fast-drying paint made of pigment suspended in acrylic polymer emulsion (a mixture of two or more liquids that are usually not able to blend). The paint dissolves in water and it resists water when dry. “Acrylics can resemble watercolor or an oil painting when other gels, mediums, or pastes are added to the paint. Acrylic paint is often used for crafting because no chemicals are needed, and cleans up with water when still wet. I create contemporary art that is best described as partial abstract art. I use acrylic paint to capture a moment in time. My abstract wall art is inspired by the Bible and it interprets the verse using shapes, forms, colors, and textures.

Discovering Acrylic

During the early 90’s my artwork had been more realistic in its subject matter. In 2012, while enrolled in an Expressive Arts program, we were required to complete spontaneous intuitive assignments. Although the assignments were challenging, it created a desire in me to broaden my skills. A fellow classmate bought me a book on acrylic intuitive painting. I followed the steps and techniques given by the author and the outcome was the colorful painting “Fruit.” Upon completion of the first intuitive art, I decided I wanted to be an acrylic painter of unique wall art.

After completing several paintings, it was evident that my emphasis would be a form of abstract painting. I began researching the various forms of abstract art and discovered my style fell in the category of partial abstraction. Similar partial abstraction artists include Henri Matisse, Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, and Paul Cezanne known for their contemporary wall art.

What is Partial Abstract Art?

There are many forms of abstract art. They include Surrealism, Dadaism, Cubism, Fauvism, Suprematism, Art Informel, Neo-Plasticism, and De Stijl. Partial abstract artwork is art which takes liberties, altering for instance color and form in ways that are conspicuous. Examples of art movements that partial abstract include are “Fauvism in which color is conspicuously and deliberately altered with regards to reality, and Cubism, which blatantly alters the forms of the real live entities depicted. Total Abstraction bears no trace of any reference to anything recognizable.” (Wikipedia). "Glory," the painting above, represents how the heavens may have looked while they were being created and how glorious and amazing the heavens are to view. My favorite abstract artist is Vasily Kandinsky for his unique and colorful artwork, and one of my favorite contemporary artists is Jaison Cianelli for his use of color and texture. My art can best be described as a form of Fauvism and has similarities to Marc Chagall. This is what I imagine the heavens looked like when God was creating the universe.

Unique and Spiritual Art that Captivates

My spiritual wall art is unique artwork in that no two paintings are alike. Each abstract painting consists of its own colorful palette and markings that result in a one of a kind, inspirational paintings. With its colorful and vibrant palette, this spiritual artwork touches the inner emotions and speak to the soul of the observer. I create this art in order to bring joy and hope to those who view it. I rarely work in earth tones. Even when I begin a painting in neutral tones, the ultimate result is a bright energetic and vibrant painting. This piece named "Choose,"represents the choices we all make throughout our lives. My intuitive paintings communicate differently to each viewer. Positive affirmations of hope accompany each painting. These affirmations are spiritual and relevant to the daily lives of the observer of my colorful artwork. One of my favorite spiritual artist is Nicole Mizoguchi who produces unique art that evokes love and joy to those that view her visionary artwork. This painting represents the many choices that we make throughout our lifetime.

My Process

I create partial abstraction paintings with a divine enthusiasm. My process is described by inspiration, interpretation and illumination, what I call the three “I’s.” I believe the guidance that I receive as I paint is from the Divine. “Inspiration,”- Before each painting session, I pray that God will send His Spirit and speak to me as I paint. I wait for the guidance as I begin to use various brush stokes to create layers of color. As I listens and continue to make marks, often shapes and objects materialize.

These paintings are never planned in advance, but are given to me by the leading of the Creator. The “Interpretation,” is my explanation of the painting in every day affirmations. And the “Illumination,” is God's Holy Spirit giving me the Bible verse that will accompany the finished painting. A painting can take as little as two weeks with 15 – 20 layers of paint to several months with uncountable layers.

St. Jude Ladies Night Cancer Support Group

It was a night full of joy and inspiration as these ladies painted the winged lady, during the Expressive Art Workshop. The lady is testing her strength by taking flight. A guest speaker gave an uplifting message on how to renew and find your source of strength. It was rewarding assisting St. Jude in providing this much needed support, for these ladies, because I've been there.

Rebecca intuitive session

Private Intuitive Painting Session

This was Rebeccs's first intuitive painting session! We had a great time. We began the session with a prayer for guidance, a visualization to relax the body, and the ability to open our mind and heart to receive any messages that may come through. Rebecca stated that the message she received was perfect for her at that day and time. We had a great time!
